Say It, Smash It, Sing It, Sip It!
“What is Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year!” – Leslie Knope, Parks and Recreation
From break-ups to break-downs to maids of honor to making you crazy, our girlfriends have been through it all with us. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and your significant other shouldn’t be the only one you share some love with! Whether it’s your life-long bestie, favorite co-worker or a new friend from yoga class, every lady friend you have should be celebrated. So celebrate your best gal pals by throwing the best Galentine’s Day Party of 2018!
Here’s some of our favorite party tricks to host the best girl’s night out (or in).
Say It
With technology at our fingertips, personalization has lost its touch. Everyone is sending group texts and mass Facebook invites for social functions. It’s time for you to be the one to put your phone down and switch it up! There’s something special about receiving mail so if you’re the crafty type, pull out your craft box and send some handmade invitations to all your friends. If you’re like me and your creativity ends at drawing stick figures during staff meetings then zip online to any of the 1-hour printing places and print a V-Day party template. Don’t forget to customize your party with a SnapChat geo filter! You and your girlfriends can be snapping the night away with custom filters, (it’s also a great way to show that ex what he’s missing ;)!

Smash It
If you haven’t seen the hilarious 2010 comedy Valentine’s Day then I suggest running to your nearest Redbox and get ready to snuggle up for a sidesplitting night in. With fan favorites such as Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Ashton Kutcher and Bradley Cooper, this movie takes you through the most relatable life stories of love and heartache. My all-time favorite character stars Jessica Biel who plays a successful publicist who is spending yet another Valentine’s Day single but definitely not alone. She hosts a fabulous party for all her single friends at a chic Indian Restaurant. While guests are there, they participate in drinking, dancing, burning old photos of exes and my personal favorite… Smashing the heart piñata! Whether you’re celebrating your singlehood or down in the dumps from being dumped, hitting a piñata could be very therapeutic! And don’t be afraid to change it up, instead of candy why not put mini liquor bottles inside for everyone to cheers with once it’s broken!

Sing It
Any Galentine’s party isn’t complete without an all-girl power ballad performance. Dust off that old karaoke machine, hand your girlfriends the mic and break out old favorites from Whitney, Mariah and Beyoncé! If your squad isn’t the most musically inclined and just the thought of karaoke makes them want to run for the hills then maybe just stick with a really awesome party playlist. Last weekend I got to celebrate Galentine’s Day with some close friends and the host made us each a sash with a title that best represented us! My top two favorites, were of course, song lyrics! “Miss Before He Cheats’” and “Miss ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much!’” You can incorporate music in more than just playing it through the speakers. Music plays a large part in any social function, it can set the tone of the event and let people express their feelings…and what better way to express your feelings than Galentine’s Day!

Sip It
Raise your glasses ladies, it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for… Okay let’s be honest it’s the moment I’ve been waiting for… COCKTAILS! Whether you’re celebrating being single, cheers-ing away a recent ex or simply toasting to a fun night out with the girls, theme your drinks for the whole night. Here are a few of our favorite V-Day cocktails:
Cotton Candy Champagne from the one and only Lauren Conrad! Not only is it sweet but it is also fun to watch as the cotton candy melts away as the champagne pours. And come on. what more could a girl want than cotton candy and champagne am I right?!
