For the past six years, Red Carpet Events & Design and Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility have partnered for the Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby (FMHD) weekend. Now, in their seventh year of working with FMHD, Red Carpet is pulling out all the stops to create an elegant experience with exquisite linens and decor. Not only will Red Carpet provide the decor for the weekend, but they also will provide coordination services, planning, vendor management, floral, and so much more.
Karen Nichols, owner of Red Carpet Events & Design, explained, "We want people to be truly "wowed" by the event. It is going to be magnificent and elegant with bold statements. Our partnership with FMHD will allow us to create a decor showcase highlighting the latest trends, some of our most popular decor pieces, and create an experience for each guest. We are hoping people embrace the "Derby" essence with attire, hats, and come ready for champagne and terrific food - and of course a phenomenal competition."
The Red Carpet and Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility partnership began in 2010 when Lynne MacLean and Aimee LaFayette were putting the final details together for the inaugural FMHD. They came to Red Carpet on a recommendation from a local vendor and found so many of the services and options they were looking for all in one place. As the derby has grown each year, Nichols has seen the evolution of this prestigious event. She explained, "The Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby (FMHD) has become more of a true community event. Every year it gets a little bit bigger and better, with terrific support from Food Bank of Northern Nevada volunteers and team. Each year the Red Carpet team tries to bring in decor and accents to highlight the exciting two days of competition."
Nichols continued, "When we prepare for the derby each year our team looks to the annual artwork marketing the competition for inspiration. Each artist's creativity sets the tones for the colors used and the overall theme of the day. It is incorporated into every detail from table linens, floral, to table style and seating. It has varied from rustic natural elements to more elegant and elaborate displays of bright color. Our layouts try carefully to consider the comfort and view of each spectator, overall flow of the day, and we work with terrific local vendors [the Jeff Leap Trio, Blend Catering, local wine and beer offerings, riding-affiliated vendors and booths in our marketplace] and bring in fun food trucks for additional food and beverage options to create a terrific experience for everyone."
Red Carpet Events & Design is also a major sponsor of the FMHD. "We love our partnership with Franktown and as a team feel honored to create an event that benefits a terrific organization like the Food Bank of Northern Nevada," said Nichols. "It is extremely important to us that it is a successful Derby for Franktown and raises as much money as possible for this vital community organization . We also love the venue itself so we always enjoy the opportunity to showcase its beauty and potential as a local event and business. The modern elegance of this year's event will be on-par with equestrian events and designers around the nation and we hope will encourage the event to grow and become even bigger and better."
Nichols concluded, "This event is one of the best in the area - it's elegant, it's stylish, it's family friendly but still upscale. We are excited for it to continue to grow and build momentum and prestige within the Reno Tahoe community and beyond."
